Introduction

The predecessor of Arts Library was the library of the Central Academy of Arts & Design (CAAD), which was built in 1956. The academy paid special attention to its library since it was founded.Considering all the majors in the academy, the library had developed the collections specially on art designs. Since the late 1990s, these collections have become considerable and outstanding among sister libraries. The CAAD was absorbed into Tsinghua University in 1999, and the library was renamed “Arts Library of Tsinghua University”.Arts Library adapts to the professional requirements of art design and education and has the advantages of rich collection and clear development direction in the domestic similiar libraries. At present, Arts Library has 3,000 square meters and more than 200 seats. Its collection contains more than 240,000 items of printed books and over 1,500 kinds of periodicals. In addition, there are over 80,000 e-books, 500 different e-journals, some 20 different electronic databases available.
